WARANGAL : The Centre has made very poor allocations for Telangana in the Union Budget for 2017-18 and has not addressed any of the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act, former chief whip and Congress senior leader Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy said.
There was nothing in the budget for Telangana. The budget failed make provisions to deliver the promises made to Telangana under Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act at the time of bifurcation, Mr. Ramana Reddy said speaking to newsmen here on Sunday. There was no proper fund allocation to irrigation projects in the State and the Centre failed mention and to make allocations for Bayyaram Steel Factory proposed in the Reorganisation Act. Also there was no allocation for the Textile Park.
While Telangana was being totally ignored the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh got substantial funds during the year 2017-18, he alleged.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao who praised the Centre’s demonetisation move in the Assembly has miserably failed to speak up about the injustice done to the State in the Union Budget despite the fact that Telangana was among the states worst-hit by the demonetisation. The Congress leader said the Chief Minister lacked the courage to speak out about injustice done to the State. The Congress Party would launch a series of protests against the failures of State and Central governments in ensuring development of the State, he said. Party city president K. Srinivas Rao was DCC Bank president J. Raghava Reddy and others were present.
